As part of our Oct 19, 2024 event, Mike Murray interviewed Creative Community Sessions creator and host Jennifer McMahon about what brought her to writing, her many successes, her daily practice, and her total dedication to her craft.
Jennifer McMahon is represented by Brian Langan, Storyline Literary Agency. She was the overall winner of the 2024 All-Ireland Scholarships Creative Writing Award (public category), a winner of the Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair 2023 (for her novel HOUSE DEVIL), was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards Short Story of the Year in 2023, the Bridport Short Story Prize and many other notable awards, was longlisted for the Bath Short Story Award, and was nominated for Best Of The Net 2024. She was also a second-place winner of the Oxford Prize (winter 2023), and won the Bray Literary Festival flash fiction competition in 2022. Her work appears in Crannog, HOWL, New Irish Writing in the Irish Independent, The Galway Review, Oxford Prize Anthology (2022 and 2023), Fractured Lit, Heimat Review, Empyrean, Books Ireland Magazine, Loft Books, the Retreat West ‘Swan Song’ anthology, the Cowboy Jamboree ‘Motel’ anthology, and The Irish Writers Handbook (2023 and 2024). She is the founder and joint Editor-In-Chief of Frazzled Lit, and is the creator of the Creative Community Sessions, an initiative to provide greater exposure to talented emerging writers.
